The stripes are resist-printed: a paste is applied to the fabric before dyeing, blocking the indigo from reaching those lines, leaving white channels of varying width and texture. 100% Cotton — resist-printed vertical stripe. The indigo ground is deep and rich. The white stripes are broken and slightly irregular — the natural result of the resist process. Gets softer with every wash.

Craft

Resist printing on indigo-dyed cotton — the vertical stripe is created through a resist process where a paste or blocking agent is applied to the fabric in stripe formation before dyeing. The indigo dye cannot penetrate these areas, leaving the characteristic broken white lines. Confirm with team whether Dabu (mud resist) or Leheriya technique.

Care

Hand wash in cold water. The indigo dye will bleed significantly in the first wash — wash separately. Do not wring. Dry flat in shade. Iron on low heat on reverse. Indigo is a natural dye that deepens with age and slight fading adds character.

Indigo dye is slightly lighter-than-stable in the first few washes — the colour will stabilise after 2–3 washes and may develop a slight fade over time, which adds character to indigo fabrics.

WASH CARE

Do not wash with other garments for the first 2–3 washes. Do not wring or twist. Dry flat in shade. Iron on low heat on the reverse side. The indigo will stabilise after a few washes and mild fading adds character — this is normal and expected for indigo cotton.
